Lauren R. Rosecan, MD, PhD, FACS, founded The Retina Institute of Florida after leaving a successful private and teaching practice in New York. He is Board Certified, a Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology, and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is a member of numerous medical societies, including the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and the Palm Beach County and Florida State Medical and Ophthalmological Societies.
Dr. Rosecan served on the Diabetes Retinopathy Committee of the Florida Society of Ophthalmology. He has served on a number of local hospital committees, including the Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center Diabetes Center Physicians Advisory Committee, and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Lighthouse for the Blind of the Palm Beaches.
Dr. Rosecan has done extensive original research in the area of diabetic retinopathy which has helped to define the underlying mechanisms causing diabetic eye disease. He has presented this and other research at national ophthalmology meetings and received the William Warner Hoppin Award of the New York Academy of Medicine for his research on the treatment of retinal detachment. Dr. Rosecan has published a number of original articles in leading medical journals as well as clinical articles for On Call, the magazine of the Palm Beach County Medical Society. In addition to his advanced training in vitreoretinal disorders, Dr. Rosecan stays abreast of the latest developments in his specialty by attendance at national meetings, discussions with academic colleagues, and extensive and ongoing review of the medical literature related to this field.
